It’s always nice to have new clothes or a room brightened with a fresh coat of paint.
And that’s how Lake Bolac & District Kindergarten feel about their sparkling new signs, which can’t be missed! In the unmistakable Y Kinders green, two new signs leave no doubt as to the purpose of the building on Montgomery Street.
The kinder is located in the small township which has around 400 residents and is situated close to the shores of Lake Bolac in the Western District of Victoria (Girai wurrung Country).
Lake Bolac kinder, like many Y Kinders, is a focal point for their community, providing much more than early education. Vital socialisation opportunities are important not only for the children, but also for their families. The kinder acts as a hub, with families congregating at drop off and pick up, often after travelling long distances to ensure that their children can participate.
Y Kinders manages 6 kindergartens in Ararat Rural City Council, including Lake Bolac & District Kindergarten, which will be amongst the first in Victoria to offer 30 hours of fully funded free kindergarten for 4 year olds (Pre-Prep) commencing in 2025.
Vicki Dobson, Executive Manager, Children’s Services, is looking to the future, with these sector wide changes reinforcing the importance of early childhood education.
“Y Kinders is very proud of the role that we play in connecting our youngest community members through our early education services. Research has also shown that increased time in kinder also delivers significant benefits,” she said.
“We’re excited by the opportunities that the Best Start, Best Life reforms offer and to be part of the first cohort in Victoria to introduce 30 hours of play based learning.”
