The Y (YMCA) Ballarat has been active in our community since the 1870’s and we are proud of our continuous community service role which stretches back over 140 years.
Over the years, our organisation has taken on many roles in the development of sport, recreation, children’s, youth and family services. These operations have at all times been motivated by a philosophy of providing quality services to the community.
The Y is a charitable, not-for-profit community service organisation, controlled and directed by a Board of community representatives. Our aim is to provide substantial benefits for the community with all surplus funds reinvested in Y services, especially programs that assist and empower young people who may be experiencing disadvantage.
We have been operating children’s programs for more than four decades, with the Y Ballarat active in the Early Years sector since the introduction of the previous Kindergarten Cluster Management model in 2003.
Y Kinders (EYM) is now one of the largest Early Years Management providers in Victoria, and works with our Outside of School Hours Care (OSHC) and Early Childhood Education services, in our commitment to planning and delivering quality children’s education and care services.
At the Y, we believe in the power of inspired young people, and there is no better place for us to start empowering and supporting young people than in early years’ programs and services. We strive to ensure every child has access to a quality education and specialise in providing unique, stimulating community-based programs.
Y Kinders acknowledges the support of the Victorian Government.
