Please note, that while redevelopment works are undertaken at our kindergarten, we have relocated to 26 Leicester Steet, Heidelberg Heights.

Children learn best at Kindergarten through hands-on experiences, within a play based program, that is inspiring, dynamic and fun. At East Ivanhoe Preschool, we are committed to providing this in our 3 and 4 year old Kindergarten programs. 

Our playroom is filled with order and beauty. You will notice as you visit East Ivanhoe Preschool that each play space is free from clutter, and every material provided for the children is considered for its purpose. As the year progresses every corner is ever-evolving to encourage children to delve deeper and deeper into their interests.

We have a strong belief in teaching the arts, with an art program taught by an artist running once a week. This program acknowledges the experiences, skills, passions and gifts of our children.

East Ivanhoe Preschool proudly displays the Kinder Tick to help families feel confident that our program is recognised as a funded kindergarten program and:

3 & 4 Year Old
Kinder Programs

We offer free 3 and 4 year old kindergarten with our programs running 15 hours a week.

Weekly
Art Program

Our 4 year old groups participate in a weekly art program which is driven by the children’s interests and ideas. This promotes creative thinking, problem solving and builds increased engagement with the arts.

Natural
Environment

Our room speaks to the outdoor environment favouring neutral tones, fabrics and wood. From any area of the playroom, the children can look out to the greenery of our beautiful yard with its wide array of trees, ferns and plants.

Diverse
Curriculum

We provide a rich and imaginative educational curriculum, including visual and performing arts. We focus on music and movement, where children can freely express themselves, develop, and learn in a fun way.

Space to
Move

Our specially designed outdoor play spaces give children plenty of room to move and explore. We also have a vegetable patch, areas to dig in the dirt, sandpits and places to climb and run.

We pride ourselves on our commitment to the safeguarding of children and young people, providing safe and fun environments for children to flourish.

Our Preschool’s philosophy guides our teaching and approach to early learning. It is informed by the National Quality Framework and underpins all our service’s operations and daily practices.

The Y has been delivering Early Learning Programs for over 20 years and is passionate about creating safe, fun, educational environments where children can thrive. Enrolment & Session Information

East Ivanhoe Preschool’s registration process is managed centrally by the Banyule City Council and is supported by the Y Kinders’ enrolment team who will provide information and support on any queries relating to your child’s enrolment.

We operate both 4 year old and 3 year old kindergarten programs on the days and times below:
