Our Centre

We’re proud to have been providing high-quality Kindergarten to the Eltham community for over 60 years!

Our programs are delivered by nurturing and qualified educators in a bright, welcoming and inspiring playroom, and two beautiful outdoor play areas.

We balance a warm sense of community, joyful learning, independent thinking and creativity in a sustainable, natural environment.

Our playgrounds are large and leafy with lots of shade, providing numerous areas for your child to explore, discover and be creative. Special features include a bike track, a large covered sandpit with deck, a bridge and river (fed by our own tank water) and our ever popular fire engine.

Eltham Preschool proudly displays the Kinder Tick to help families feel confident that our program is recognised as a funded kindergarten program and:

Kinder Programs

We offer high quality free 3 and 4 year old play-based kindergarten programs.

Natural
Environment

We value the outdoor environment and believe that children benefit from experiencing seasonal changes, opportunities for physical development and play in a garden. 

Community
Excursions

Excursions, incursions and community interaction are a regular part of our program. Venturing out into the local area allows children to explore the world around them, and feel a part of a community.

Diverse
Curriculum

We provide a multicultural curriculum, which includes celebrating a variety of cultural events throughout the year. Families are encouraged to share their values, skills and traditions to enrich children’s learning.

Bush
Kinder

Our 4 year old program attends Bush Kinder each week, at a nature site in our local community. Whatever the weather, children spend periods of unstructured time playing, exploring and learning!

We pride ourselves on our commitment to the safeguarding of children and young people, providing safe and fun environments for children to flourish.

Our Preschool’s philosophy guides our teaching and approach to early learning. It is informed by the National Quality Framework and underpins all our service’s operations and daily practices.

The Y has been delivering Early Learning Programs for over 20 years and is passionate about creating safe, fun, educational environments where children can thrive. At the Y, we believe in the power of inspired young people and we feel there is no better time to begin inspiring than in an Early Learning program!

Enrolment & Session Information

Eltham Preschool’s registration process is managed centrally through the Shire of Nillumbik’s Central Applications and is supported by the Y Kinders’ enrolment team who will provide information and support on any queries relating to your child’s enrolment.

We operate free 4 year old and 3 year old kindergarten programs as mixed age group on the days and times below:

2025 session times are provisional.

Blue Group – Mixed-age Group (2024 & 2025)
