Lucas
Kindergarten

Our Centre

Located at the corner Coltman Plaza and Eleanor Drive, the state-of-the-art Lucas Kindergarten is part of the Lucas Community Hub and is easily accessible from suburbs in the growth area of Ballarat West.

Co-located with Maternal and Child Health, the Hub provides convenience for families with visiting services such as early childhood intervention and family services on-site.

At Lucas Kindergarten, children are encouraged to develop personal independence, self-awareness and a feeling of self-worth, and are given opportunities to develop warm, caring, respectful relationships and friendships with other children and adults.

A child’s work is their play and therefore our kindergarten program is play based and child centred. We use current ideas and experiences initiated by the children in their play, and scaffold this learning into further play development. Our routines are guided by the children.

At our kinder, we celebrate the joy of learning and being together as we discover what’s possible!

Lucas Kindergarten proudly displays the Kinder Tick to help families feel confident that our program is recognised as a funded kindergarten program and:

  • Is led by qualified staff
  • Children benefit from play-based learning
  • The kindergarten program is funded and approved by the Victorian Government
  • Our program complies with government guidelines and the National Quality Framework

Victorian Approved Kinder Tick

3 & 4 Year Old
Kinder Programs

We offer free 3 and 4 year old kindergarten, with our programs running 15 hours a week. Our multiple groups provide families with flexibility to enrol into a group that works best.

Community
Excursions

Excursions and incursions are a key part of our curriculum. Venturing out into the local area allows children to explore the world around them, and feel a part of their community.

Bush
Kinder

Bush Kinder allows children to experience uninterrupted play in natural settings and learn about their local flora and fauna through exploration and discovery.

Diverse
Curriculum

We provide a multicultural curriculum, which includes celebrating a variety of cultural events throughout the year. Families are encouraged to share their values, skills and traditions to enrich the children’s learning.

Storypark App
Access

Storypark connects our educators with parents, providing the ability to share news, service updates, progress and exciting moments from kinder to home!

Safeguarding Children
and Young People

We pride ourselves on our commitment to the safeguarding of children and young people, providing safe and fun environments for children to flourish.

Philosophy

Our kindergarten’s philosophy guides our teaching and approach to early learning. It is informed by the National Quality Framework and underpins all our service’s operations and daily practices.

For more details, please ask us for a copy of our Philosophy Statement.
