Enhanced accessibility coming to South Castlemaine Kinder with $700k grant

July 9, 2024 Mount Alexander Shire

The team at South Castlemaine kindergarten was thrilled when Member for Bendigo West, Maree Edwards, MP, stopped by to announce $700k of funding for upgrades, as part of the latest round of the state government’s Building Blocks grants.

Features to be developed include a new toilet, a ramp at the entrance, an improved and expanded office, larger meeting room, and increased foyer. A new storeroom will also be added.

“We’re always looking at ways to make our services as accessible and inclusive as possible. Working together with local Councils and the Department we aim to reduce barriers to make accessing early learning easy for all families,” said Carly Middleton, General Manager for Y Kinders.

“Mount Alexander Shire has worked tirelessly to advocate for this funding, which will be especially important with the Early Years reforms and Pre-Prep roll-out. We’d like to thank them and look forward to all the opportunities that these improvements will bring for children and their families.”

Enrolments for 2025 free kindergarten at South Castlemaine Kindergarten are still open. Find out more about this wonderful kinder and their program here.
