For Jenna and Kaitlin from Y Kinders and Y Ballarat, taking part in the Leadership Excellence Acceleration Program (Y LEAP), was much more than they expected, and had the additional benefit of forming strong connections with staff from across the organisation.
On recently graduating from the course, they both reflected on how the program had shaped their approach to interactions, daily activities and longer term goals.
The program was hosted by the Y Whittlesea, and delivered by Leigh Hodges, a specialist in people and team performance. Sessions were conducted over 12 months with time allowed for reflection and implementation of techniques, ideas and learnings.
Jenna shared her experience of Y LEAP, “The program supported me to develop and grow as leader, learning new skills for both team development and personal development. It made it clear why I would choose to lead and how I choose to lead. It also showed the influence and difference I could have on someone’s life depending on the way I lead and support teams.”
Kaitlin echoed this, and added, “I’ve learnt that good leadership inspires others to join you on the journey and that it’s really important to be open to change and to continuously embrace learning.
It was so beneficial to be able to participate in this Y program facilitated by Y Whittlesea. This is another great example of how throughout my time at the Y, I’ve really been supported to develop my career.”
Jenna Riggall has recently moved into the role of Executive Assistant to the CEO, while Kaitlin Neil is our Y Kinders’ Area Director for the Ballarat region.
At the Y, we believe in empowering our people and have a culture of ongoing professional development and growth.
